Target shooting is available to all cadets and is strictly controlled. The staff are highly qualified to ensure the safety of all taking part. All cadets are training in the handling of the rifle and start on the Mark 8 .22 rifle, they shoot on indoor and outdoor target ranges and take part in verious practices including grouping, snap and rapid. But to start with they mainly concentrate in getting groupings, they are tested in safe handing and firing skills.
The new Marksman levels are Squadron, Wing, Regional and Corps Marksman, and all awards can now be achieved on air rifles, .22 and full bore and it follows set critria for each weapon target used for each award.

Once cadets reach the age of 14 years or older and has attained a First Class Shot on the .22 rifle they are able to attend one of the L98 rifle dry training courses held at one of the Outdoor Ranges or at Annual Camps, on completion of the dry training cadet must also pass the Weapon Handling Test before they can fire the weapon.

If a cadet is a very good shoot they can be entered to repersent the Wing at Bisley. Bisley is the Home of British Target Shooting and only cadet who are exceptional shots can qualify to shoot at Bisley. They will shoot against cadets from the Army Cadet Force, Sea Cadet Corps and the Combined Cadet Force.
The cadets that achieve a score of 100 are awarded the Cadet 100 Badge.
